Motherhood looks different for everyone, but at its heart, it’s a constant act of care. This Mother’s Day, we’re taking a moment to slow down and celebrate some of the mums in our community, not just for what they do, but for who they are. From the everyday routines to the quiet wins, these are honest reflections on motherhood, what it’s taught them, what they’re proud of, and how they find moments to feel good along the way.
The Mothers of IKU
Shonagh

ㅤ
Shonagh is a mum to a lively one-year-old, navigating this busy, joyful chapter alongside her partner while also running her sustainable salon, Sho & Co.
Her days are a constant balancing act, dropping her daughter at daycare before stepping into business owner mode, managing appointments and everything behind the scenes. It’s full, but it’s something she’s proud of.
What she’s proud of
Building a successful salon while raising her daughter. “Each day is a balancing act, but it shows me I can thrive in both roles.”
What’s surprised her
The depth of love. “I never imagined I could feel this way, being a mum brings me so much joy.”
How she feels good
Self-care is non-negotiable, from eating well during the week to moving her body regularly, while still allowing space for balance on weekends.
What keeps her grounded
The support of her husband and close friends. “As a mum with a business, living far from family, their support is what keeps me going.”
Her IKU go-to
Fettuccini with Pesto & Semi-dried Tomato for a filling lunch, plus a cheeky Apple & Blackcurrant Sago Cup later on.
For other mums
“You’re not alone. We all have tough days and brighter ones. Reach out, talk to your people, and don’t forget to care for yourself.”
Maddy

ㅤ
Maddy is a mum of three, in the thick of a full, fast-paced season of life, where family is everything, even if it’s loud, busy, and a little chaotic.
Her days move quickly, from hectic mornings and school runs to errands, life admin, and after-school activities, before evenings blur into dinner, prep, and finally collapsing on the couch.
What she’s proud of
Raising kind, resilient kids. “They’re all so different, but seeing who they’re becoming makes me really proud.”
What’s surprised her
Just how constant motherhood is. “You can never switch off… and at the same time, it all goes so quickly.”
How she feels good
Movement is her reset, whether it’s the gym, a run, Pilates, or a walk. Eating well is just as important. “When I’m organised with food, I feel so much better.”
What keeps her grounded
Routine, simplicity, and having a few go-to systems that make life easier.
Her IKU go-to
Nasi Goreng or Katsu Curry, especially for easy lunches or those nights when there’s no plan. “It takes the decision-making out of it, and I know I’m still eating something healthy.”
For other mums
“You’re not alone, even if it feels like it. Some days are just about getting through. Be kind to yourself and take the small wins.”
Stephㅤ

ㅤ
Steph is a mum of young kids and co-founder of COCO HIT, balancing the demands of family life with building a growing brand.
Her days are a mix of kids, work, and constant problem solving, holding structure where she can while staying flexible to whatever the day brings.
What she’s proud of
Staying present with her kids while continuing to move forward with her goals.
What’s surprised her
“How quickly time goes, even when some days feel slow, and how much you’re capable of taking on.”
How she feels good
Small, simple moments, a quiet coffee, a walk, a monthly pedicure, or just taking a moment to reset.
What keeps her grounded
A strong support system and a clear sense of purpose.
Her IKU go-to
Simple, nourishing salads that are quick and effortless. “Something that still feels good without needing to think.”
For other mums
“Just keep going, you’re doing better than you think, even on the hard days.”
