IKU Team Does the Real Food Reset

Sometimes the best way to talk about real food… is to actually eat it.

To bring our Real Food Reset to life, three of us from the IKU team - Dani, Sarah and Moya - decided to do the 5-day reset ourselves. No filters, no skipping meals, no pretending we didn’t eat the pudding. Just real food, eaten properly, and noticed honestly.

What followed was five days of nourishing, plant-based meals - and a few surprising shifts along the way.‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎

Day by day: what we noticed

We didn’t go into this expecting perfection - just curiosity. Here’s how it felt.

By Day 1–2, the biggest win was ease. No planning, no decision fatigue, no wondering what was for lunch. Just open the fridge and eat.

By Day 3, things started to shift. Energy felt steadier. Afternoon slumps softened. Digestion felt lighter and calmer.

By Day 4–5, the changes were noticeable enough that we were talking about them out loud - better sleep, feeling less bloated, more energised, and genuinely satisfied after meals.

And yes - we still looked forward to eating every single one.

Dani’s experience

For Dani, the biggest shift was digestion and lightness.

Mid-reset, she noticed that familiar heavy, sluggish feeling after meals just… wasn’t there. Meals felt grounding but not overwhelming, and digestion felt smoother throughout the day.

Sleep also improved - falling asleep faster and waking up feeling more rested. The kind of rest where you don’t hit snooze five times.

Sarah noticed the impact most in her energy levels and sleep.

Sleep became deeper and more settled, which made mornings feel noticeably easier.

“It was the consistency that surprised me most. I didn’t realise how much food choices were affecting my sleep and energy until they changed.”

Moya’s experience

Moya

For Moya, the standout was feeling well-fuelled and satisfied, without that post-meal heaviness.

Meals felt balanced and comforting, but still light. Digestion improved, and there was a noticeable lift in overall energy - the kind that makes movement and daily tasks feel easier.

What we took away
